The Beginning
Originated in Europe where Halloween is an ancient Irish holiday known as ‘Samhain’. Samhain means ‘the end of summer’, when Irish said goodbye to last year and prepare to welcome the New Year. They also pay tribute to their ancestors and loved ones who passed away on this day.
Highlight of the celebration – PUMPKIN
Fall is officially here and harvesting season will also be over. The last crop remaining in the field is the multi-colour winter squashes, but the most glorified squash of all is the bright orange pumpkins. Small pumpkins are cute and lovely; and the big round ones are simply beautiful and gratifying, making them perfect decorative items and fun to carve on.
Halloween is also called ‘Pumpkin Festival’ by many, especially the young ones. Pumpkin picking is one of the field activities at this time, along with hay rides, story telling and hot chocolates.
